When you spend time and money investing in skin health it makes sense to tend to it regularly so your investment is not wasted. Just as you look after your car, clothing or teeth, our skin needs regular attention to ensure it is performing well and staying in good shape!

Whether you have overcome acne, addressed melasma, or simply taken the time to rejuvenate your skin, if you fail to tend to its ongoing health you may find yourself needing to do more than less, as ongoing care is required. Think of maintenance as ‘a little, often’ and the ability to incorporate gentle treatments semi-frequently – think every 4 – 12 weeks.

I always like to use the food, gym, and exercise analogy, the diet being like your home care products and supplements, and the exercise or workouts your in-clinic treatments. Reaching your physical physique goals doesn’t mean you stop working out, it means that you may move to a maintenance style of training. Skin is no different. We can reach our goals, but to maintain the level of health, glow, and vitality we need to be having in-clinic treatments to boost collagen production, remodel the skin, exfoliate and support hydration.

The first line of maintenance is definitely what you are using on your skin at home. As the planned in-clinic treatment phases round out and your main concern is addressed, often we will bolster the homecare regime with an extra serum or two to ensure that nourishment of the skin at home.

Gabby, Cara, and I were chatting about the importance of skin maintenance and we came up with a list of treatments that will help to preserve results achieved and continue to prevent premature aging. We all agreed at-home skincare is a must - team that with a hands-on session with a Dermal Clinician and the magic continues.

Here is a list of our favourite treatments – we have worked on a time and recovery model to work with what fits with the time you have available for treatment and also recovery.

  • LED; is the number one maintenance tool. By energising the mitochondria we ensure our cells are communicating well and our immune system is well prepared and engaged. No downtime.

  • Peel + LED; step up your glow factor by having a clinical exfoliation procedure. Downtime can vary from none up to 5-7 days of shedding

  • Skin needling + LED; to improve surface texture and promote dermal remodeling. 5 days dry, flaking skin.

  • RF Resurfacing + LED; soften lines and lighten discoloration. 5-7 days downtime.

  • Laser Toning + LED; select between a 1D, 2D, or 3D treatment to address vascularity/redness over cheeks, brown spots, or melasma and keep your skin tone beautiful even. 0-7 days downtime. For a super boost, add a chemical peel to help smooth the skin surface at the same time!
