First of all – congratulations on your engagement. You have just made a beautiful commitment to your lifelong happiness with your partner – what a truly special time this is for you.

There is one aspect we are particularly passionate about and that is ensuring that you have soft, flawless, and glowing skin for your big day. At The Clinic Skin Health, we absolutely love working with both brides and grooms ahead of their wedding to ensure their skin is radiating with health. It means you can truly concentrate on feeling fabulous and enjoying the celebrations and relax in the lead up to your wedding knowing that your complexion is in expert hands. Now, you might be wondering why we say 12-month guide – it is because good skin takes time and we work on a holistic approach, so our tips will help you not only look but also feel your best - inside and out. Our bespoke approach to skin is the foundation for truly beautiful and glowing skin on your wedding day.

Of course, if you only have 9 months or even 6 months until you say “I do” we can work with you on an individual skin programme prior to your wedding to ensure we get results – but 12 months is an ideal timeline to allow the skin to completely transform. We also appreciate that in the lead up to your wedding can be stressful and we have seen this aspect impact both clear and already problematic complexions. We can help you tame those breakouts and find long term solutions for gorgeous skin, for your wedding and beyond. The advice we offer here is general in nature- so we encourage you to reach out here so we can assist your unique needs further.

12 months out

To begin with, we recommend that you book a consultation with us so we can discuss your wedding skin goals, address any concerns, create a homecare routine as well as ensure we have a treatment plan in place for your skin.  This forms the most important part of establishing the foundation for success and it is critical to achieve your desired results. It is important to note that we are a bespoke skin clinic and therefore everyone’s skin journey will be different- we believe by tailoring our approach to your individual needs we are able to deliver incredible results that genuinely care for the health of skin so you can glow well past your wedding date.

At the beginning of your skin journey during our consultation we also prescribe a skin regime plan – this is an absolute must do- as it is topical nutrition to feed your skin daily. Your regime will contain the recommended treatments we need to perform to balance the skin and bring it to a state of harmony - we are also looking to clear out the complexion and ensure it is producing better quality skin cells. Usually we start with this process with LED light therapy treatments to kick things off and begin your skin rejuvenation.

A note about Sunscreen – most brides want to improve their overall skin tone, therefore wearing SPF is an absolute non-negotiable. There is no point working against what you are trying to improve – so, you can consider the Meseoestetic range for full spectrum protection.

Have you thought about the neckline of the dress you are looking to wear, as well as any exposed skin areas? It is always a good idea to improve the tone and condition of those body areas too.

To support radiant skin we also utilise internal supplementation – we love EFA Ultra, Ultimate 1 and Tremella extract for boosting the healthy and vitality of your complexion, as well as your hair and nails.

Tremella: This antioxidant rich extract will help to improve skin hydration and elasticity, lubricate deep tissue, vital organs and support both the body’s digestive health.

Ultimate 1.0: This addresses four key pillars of universal skin health, with a proprietary blend of meticulously-sourced, high-quality and natural ingredients. These include sustainable marine collagen peptides, prebiotics, probiotics and skin nutrients including Vitamin C, pro Vitamin A, B complex vitamins (riboflavin, niacin, Vitamin B6, biotin) and silica to smooth wrinkles, improve skin texture and boost skin hydration.

EFA Ultra: An incredible supplement that contains 190 nutrients and bioactive substances all entirely sourced from plant based ingredients. They work to soothe and nourish the body, increase water levels in the skin and improve its structural integrity and barrier function. EFA Ultra works well for those who suffer from acne, inflamed or reactive skin, pigmentation and hormonal imbalance as well as fine lines, wrinkles and saggy skin.

As every skin is unique, we always work with you to recommend the best supplements for your skin’s individual requirements – for example some skins need hydration, to reduce redness or to improve skin tone and vibrancy.

Diet is also important part of any skin care routine and something we delve into when you have our first consultation with us. A general recommendation is to start eating clean and looking at your lifestyle habits- this means incorporating a movement routine and an assessment of inflammatory foods which might be hindering your skin.

6 months out

At six months, we move into customised professional in-clinic treatments based on your requirements and to further hone and refine your home care treatment plan. We are usually looking to work on aesthetic changes like pigmentation and scarring during this phase, so this process takes time and we definitely want to have a few sessions completed before your big day. These treatments may include Peels, Laser, Skin needling and LED. You can learn more about our range of transformative treatments here.

Remember to up your water intake and ensure your diet is nourishing – generally speaking, it should be full of fresh fruit, vegetables, and lean proteins. Remember the odd drink or two won’t hurt but it will dehydrate your skin – so be mindful to re-hydrate, take your supplements, keep up your home care routine, get plenty of antioxidants to keep your skin glowing. Don’t forget the sunscreen everyday too!

Heightened stress, lack of sleep and the pressure of organising such a big milestone in your life might start to take its toll. Stress can negatively impact your overall wellbeing and may cause skin breakouts and weight gain if left unchecked. If anxiety is a factor for you and is also affecting your sleep patterns, then it might be time to consider an exercise program to help burn off that adrenaline and sweat out those worries.

Speaking of sleep - it’s time to consider some health habits for the evening to ensure your body and mind is getting the rest and repair it needs and you can properly unwind. Pour yourself a soothing herbal tea, take a bath and add some Epsom salts for detoxification, wrap your hair Huile Fondamentale -a glorious hair oil from Biologique Recherche and practice some meditation (try the Insight Timer app which has a whole host of incredible meditations).

When it comes to your evening routine you can further care for you skin with our Goodnight Co silk pillowcases. These beautiful quality pillowcases not only can improve the quality of your sleep but are also a highly effective tool to keep your skin smooth and supple.

3 months out

Normally, at three months out from the wedding we will be doing some revising and looking at the results we have achieved so far - you will be able to notice considerable differences in your skin quality, health and overall condition. Our next steps are to start working on preparing the skin so it’s truly hydrated, plump and looking incredible for your walk down the aisle (our Biologique Recherche customised facials come in very handy for these kind of results around now and honestly, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them).

This is also the perfect time to do your makeup and hair trial to ensure that you don’t have any skin reactions to their products, as well as making your final beauty appointments before the big day.

You can keep on top of your skincare and stress management with regular facials and at home masks. We offer several at home facial care packs – so we invite you to send us an email here to find out which one would be suitable for your particular skin type.

1 week out

The excitement is building – and your big day is coming up very soon- so it’s more important than ever to stay away from inflammatory foods that are either processed or contain a lot of dairy, salt or sugar. We don’t want any unnecessary fluid retention.

You could consider a massage and arrange a foot spa with DMK Medipedi® to ensure your both your heels and feet are looking polished. This week go easy on the alcohol – better yet avoid it altogether. Don’t forget to take care of yourself and ensure you are getting to bed early for a restful sleep wherever possible.

A final hydrating treatment or glow mask can also be just the thing you need before you walk down the aisle. We also recommend that our brides-to-be come in for two Red LED treatments (non-invasive, highly effective, and deeply relaxing) to plump up their skin. It is ideal if one of these Red LED treatments be performed the day before the wedding.

On the day

It’s your wedding day! Take a deep breath, do your skin routine upon waking and get ready for a truly beautiful day. We recommend minimising any puffiness, you can consider using the Biologique Recherche Liposmose serum to soothe any eye puffiness. You can also use the Masque PIGM 400 sheet masque for a next level skin glow before the make-up artist arrives.

Now all that is left is happily ever after – enjoy your day feeling confident with soft and glowing skin!
