Lotion P50 by Biologique Recherche (pronounced Bee-oh-loj-ique Resh-ersh) is a cult favourite that you should have in your skincare regime and here is why…

Formulated full of BHA’s, AHA’s, and PHA’s Biologique Recherche promises P50 restores the skin to its intended state. More than just an exfoliator, P50 works on the PH of your skin which makes it so effective.

The PH of your skin is the key to maintaining a healthy skin barrier, if your PH is too high it begins to disturb your skin’s natural balance therefore putting it at risk of damage or compromising the barrier. P50 strengthens and protects your skin from free radical damage and other contributing environmental factors that could be damaging your skin.

What are the main ingredients in all P50 formulas?

Niacinamide: Assists your lipid barrier restoration, refining pores, reduces inflammation,

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s): Class of acids derived from milk (lactic acid) and fruit sugars (malic acid from apples). These break down the “glue” that holds the skin cells together on the surface of your skin. In low percentages, AHAs are known for their moisturising properties as they stimulate the production of amino acids during the exfoliation process.

Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHA’s): BHA’s are gentle exfoliating agents similar to AHA’s however they are able to break down sticky sebum - ideal for those with acne-prone skin. This aids in the epidermis renewal process helping your dead skin cells turn over.

Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA): Gluconolactone is naturally present in honey and fruit juices - it is slightly less irritating than AHA’s making it a nice gentle exfoliant for the skin.

What are the different P50s and what do they do?
