Dermamelan.

About the treatment.

Dermamelan® is a pigmentation peel that is used to treat hyperpigmentation and melasma (pigmentation generally caused by hormonal changes).

Hyperpigmentation is a very common skin condition that causes brown patches, often on the hands and face. It can appear as sun damage, sun spots, and freckles.

The condition occurs when the body produces too much melanin – a natural pigment that gives your skin its colour tone. This overproduction can be because of genetics, sun damage, and many other reasons.

How it works.

Dermamelan® is a safe and effective treatment for all types of hyperpigmentation.

It’s similar to a skin peel and works by blocking the enzyme that produces melanin, which in turn reduces hyperpigmentation. It is widely considered to be the world’s best treatment for effectively revising hyperpigmentation.

Dermamelan® works in 2 phases:

  1. Phase 1 takes place in the clinic. After a detailed skin analysis and diagnosis, we apply the Dermamelan® You go home with the mask on, and remove it after 8 to 12 hours.

  2. Phase 2 involves home care for the next 3 months or more by applying at-home skin treatments including maintenance cream, moisturiser, cleanser and toner. These are included in the cost of your treatment. You will also need to manage your skin’s exposure to the sun.

Because Dermamelan® requires some downtime, we will happily plan your treatments around your schedule.

If your skin is better suited to a slightly weaker alternative to Dermamelan®, we may recommend Cosmelan®.
